Image
By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; October 30, 2017)      Today, we have some sad news regarding Pharaoh's Quest: The Curse of Amset-Ra . That and more news for Digital Decade  is what's in store for today's news update! Pharaoh's Quest: The Curse of Amset-Ra  Delayed into 2018      Probably the only reason you're reading this post, our upcoming animated film Pharaoh's Quest: The Curse of Amset-Ra  has been delayed into 2018. This also means that the second trailer will not be released tomorrow as scheduled. While this is going to disappoint many of you, we do have ambitious plans to make this film look great. Because of that, we want to give ourselves time to really fine-tune the film and make it a film that looks truly great. We've just finished filming the flying mummy attack sequence, which is comprised almost entirely of chroma-keyed elements that will later be composited together, and we want this se...

New Opinion Survey!

By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; January 12, 2017)      We're conducting another survey for our audience today to see what they want to see more of from us. The poll runs from now until the end of February, but if I were you, I would vote today by taking a look over the four polls on the right side of this press room.      This is in response to an internal decision to address our fan base and see what they really want to see from us. This is an especially important time for us to do so, since we released New Year's Resolution  back on Sunday and plan on releasing the next Backstage Showcase episode this Saturday. At the same time, we'll be creating a video that covers the same issues outlined here and uploading that as well. If there is something that you want to explicitly tell us that the polls don't address, just leave a comment down below.      Speaking of leaving comments, we're also pulling up ...

Studio Update: Preparing for This Halloween and Next Halloween!

Image
By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; October 24, 2016)      With Halloween around the corner, we would like to share a new update. Let's get started!      First off, the end of round 6 of auditions ends on November 30, with a guarantee that all of the characters being introduced with The Third Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Fan Choice Awards  have actors attached to them. In order to get these parts filled, we will be posting casting calls to both Bricks in Motion and the Casting Call Club right before Halloween.      In other news, a new wiki page, Baron Von Stuka Jr., was published today for your enjoyment. Look at it by clicking here . With this page comes new official canon changes that directly connect our Indiana Jones fan films to A Future in the Past , among other things. Here's what's new: The Indiana Jones, Marcus Brody, Henry Jones Sr., Dracula, 007, and Godzilla that appear in films that are par...

Studio Update: Last-Minute Changes to "Mission Deep Jungle!"

By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; December 22, 2015)      With less than a week before the release of Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle , we have some breaking news to report. Let's see what's been going on!      First, as the last minute, Michael Whalen, who was scheduled to play Steve Kenlow, had to leave his role. While this sounds very problematic, we were able to quickly secure a replacement. The part will now be played by J.T. Melia and the Steve Kenlow wiki page will be updated later today to reflect this change.      However, this is not what is causing so much distress at the studio. "We're nowhere near done with this film," said LEGO Studios CEO Mark Matthew. "While we're gearing up for completion, we still have several problems. First, filming isn't even done yet. Even though part 1's filming is done, we still have two major scenes that need filming, which means that part 2 might have to be pushed ...

Studio Update: Contemplating THAC XIII, Releasing "Mission Deep Jungle," and Driving Fan Engagement

By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; December 11, 2015)      For today's advent gift, we're giving you a studio update! Let's see what's been going on!      First, as the release of our highly-anticipated film Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle  approaches, we're getting ready to create a full trailer for the movie. While a bulk of the work will be done this weekend, we should have the trailer out next week.      This should then highlight a production issue we've run into: filming is not yet finished. "We want this film to look as good as possible," said LEGO Studios CEO Mark Matthew. "Since we are starting a brand new franchise with this movie, we need to make sure that it looks even more polished than anything we've done before." Because of this, Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle 's release is going to operate similarly to the release of Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo . On Christmas Day, onl...

You can access it through either a link on the home of the Mustache Maniacs Film Co. website or by clicking here .      In other news, in response to the failed attempt to earn revenue that was Between Takes Set Reviews , another route of money-making is being taken on the Mustache Maniacs Film Co. website - Mustache Max's Art and Product Tie-In Store! The name of the store isn't final, but in the coming months, merchandise will be added in two product collec...

Time for Another Vote!

By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; March 25, 2015)      While we typically don't discuss what is going on behind the scenes here at the studio, we would like to let you know that we are in the process of archiving all of our movies on DVD in full 1920x1080 HD! However, as we continue the archiving process (all of our movies, sans Kilroy Was Here! , are already converted to full HD and are currently being assembled as DVD assets), we came up with a thought that would need some approval from the fan community: should we also archive all of the fan videos in full HD on DVD? This is a simple yes or no survey that will not take much time and only applies to the videos in the playlist "Fan Videos" on our YouTube Channel. Just look for the survey on the right side of this page, and we'll get back to you with the results in May!

Studio Update: Project U Begins Filming and Decide the Next Archive Collections!

By: Andrew Bermudez (LEGO Studios; September 23, 2014)      Just two days ago, filming for the massive, multi-year project Project U officially began with the opening scenes for Attack of the Fifty-Foot Hamster . While the giant hamster puppet is nearing completion, the scenes that do not require it will be completed first. However, as all of the films will be filmed simultaneously, that means that filming for Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle will begin shortly. We are also expecting the production gallery for Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients  to be released in October, with the contest prizes shipping out soon after.      In other news, the next Archive Collections has not yet been decided on, so we're turning to the fans to see what they would like to see next. Some possibilities will be put up to vote, with the actual Archive Collections post coming in October. The ideas are: Where Johnny Thunder Almost Went (Locations deleted...

By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; April 12, 2014)      There has been a lot of activity here as we prepare for not only our tenth birthday on April 18 and some surprises to be featured that day, but also for the release of Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients  on July 18! Here's a look at some of the recent events around the studio.      First off, the creator of the Dino Attack RPG, PeabodySam, has invited the RPG's veteran players to help collaborate with the Project U-Build Play Set Adventures team to develop the wave of sets based on the said RPG. "We are happy to be working with such a talented group of storytellers and writers," said Drawn to Life Animation head Steve Brocko. "By getting even more insight into this unique series of play set adventures, we are sure that this wave of set instructions will be a true hit." No timetable has been set for the set instructions' release, but they may come out as ...

By: Andrew Bermudez (LEGO Studios; September 9, 2013)      This upcoming weekend is Friday the 13th, which means news about our Halloween projects! Let's get started!      To tie into our growing collection of villain pages on the Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Wiki, a new poll has started on this press room, asking which Mustache Maniacs Film Co. villain is your favorite. For the record, this list is restricted to villains, so any henchman characters, such as Patrick, Pogo, and Cal Pada Guard #18, don't count. The poll is open from now until Halloween night. If you want to vote in something else as well, remember that  voting  for The Second Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Fan Choice Awards  is still continuing until the same day. Vote today! If you need a reminder, a commercial will debut by the end of this month.      In other news, A Bite of MyJobs  is nearing completion, getting ready for its October 18th debut. The ani...

Voting for the Second Fan Choice Awards Begins!

By: Andrew Bermudez (LEGO Studios; June 12, 2013)      As the studio gets settled into its new location (we recently moved our studio, hence a recent lack of Tales of the Adventurers comics), it was unveiled in the round 3 intro video for The Film School Challenge  that voting for The Second Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Fan Choice Awards  would begin soon. Well, that time has arrived, as the voting has officially started! "We are excited that this time has arrived," said LEGO Studios CEO Mark Matthew. "Our first awards ceremony had a high voter turnout, and we expect an even higher one this time. Because of this, we've added four new categories." Voting starts today and will end October 31st. After a review from a panel of judges, here are the nominations.      Note:  Each film title is a link to that respective film (unless the film title is repeated before), making the voting process more fair. Best Picture: Worcester Cold Storage...

Studio Update: "New Friends" right on schedule, "Johnny Thunder 3" crew leaves London, new opinion poll, etc.

By: Andrew Bermudez (LEGO Studios; November 2, 2012)      With Halloween just past and the holiday season just around the corner, it's time for another studio update! Let's get started!      The new cut-out stop motion animation coming this holiday season, New Friends ~ An Environmental Fable  is right on schedule. While not all of the puppets are finished, the entire opening shot is finished. The shot of mama and papa dodo showing love for each other is especially heartwarming. The film is expected to have a release date in mid-December. A first look for this film will come Thanksgiving weekend.      In other news, the cast and crew working on Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients  has just finished work in London and are now working on recreating Stonehenge a few miles from the original monument. "We can't really work at the original site because we need to do things that wouldn't work otherwise," explained direct...

Survey Results are in!

By: Andrew Bermudez (LEGO Studios; August 18, 2012)      In the wake of the re-release of Mystery at Shady Acres, the results from the several month-long survey were collected. Surprisingly, many people didn't comment on the absence of certain themes, such as Adventurers, Atlantis, Kingdoms, and Alpha Team. With these exclusions aside, here is a short list of the most popular themes from the survey; five are retro themes, seven are contemporary themes (to compensate for a few ties), and one is a classic theme. Pharaoh's Quest (16 votes) Pirates (15 votes) Rock Raiders (15 votes) City (14 votes) Wild West (13 votes) Time Cruisers (10 votes) Monster Fighters (9 votes) Arctic (8 votes) Vikings (8 votes) Dino Attack (8 votes) Aqua Raiders (8 votes) Dino (8 votes) Town (7 votes)      As expected, several classic themes performed well, such as Wild West and Pirates. Several newer themes also perfor...

Studio Update: Happy St. Patrick's Day and a New Poll

By: Andrew Bermudez (Lego Studios; March 17, 2012)      Today is St. Patrick's Day, which brings us to another studio update. Let's get started!      To start, Gone Ice Fishin' now has an official release date. "I am so glad that we are finally going to get this film done," said Steve Brocko, head of the studio's traditional animation department. "We've been working on it for over 5 months now and the development has been problematic at best." Currently, the plan is to release the film on June 1st, though some delays may occur. In addition, because of some issues, the release for Guard Dog has been pushed off to June 1st.      Also, the first phase of Project Proofread has been completed! If you haven't read the old press releases recently, be sure to check them out to see all of the changes that have been made! The second phase, which will include spell-checking all of the descriptions for our films, will begi...

Actor Trampled during 'Johnny Thunder 3' Filming, Other Studio News

Image
By: Andrew Bermudez (Pamplona, Spain; January 18, 2012)      Yesterday, during the filming for Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients , one of the extras on hire was trampled by a bull. Though he did survive, he had to be rushed to the hospital for severe cuts, flesh wounds in the back, and two broken ribs. Originally, director Steven Lawrence wanted to re-shoot the scene, but assistant director Barry Hollows (he agreed to be assistant director after Simon Johnathon was demoted for "creating too many failed movies") said that there was no need to, since dozens of participants in the actual Running of the Bulls (or Mozos) get injured every year. The trampling in the center of this screenshot wasn't scripted.      The blame for the bull being overactive, and thus trample the extra, went to production assistant Samuel Gordon, who was seen messing around with an electric cattle prod near the trained bulls. When asked to comment about...
