With Halloween just past and the holiday season just around the corner, it's time for another studio update! Let's get started!
The new cut-out stop motion animation coming this holiday season, New Friends ~ An Environmental Fable is right on schedule. While not all of the puppets are finished, the entire opening shot is finished. The shot of mama and papa dodo showing love for each other is especially heartwarming. The film is expected to have a release date in mid-December. A first look for this film will come Thanksgiving weekend.
In other news, the cast and crew working on Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients has just finished work in London and are now working on recreating Stonehenge a few miles from the original monument. "We can't really work at the original site because we need to do things that wouldn't work otherwise," explained director Steven Lawrence. "If we tried to dig up the ground or wreck the barricade surrounding the site, I don't think anyone would be happy." These shots are expected to be done by the end of the month. Then the crew will fly out to Zimbabwe for the next series of scenes, including a thrilling train escape. The film will debut summer 2014.
Also, The Four Monkeys are hosting a new Brickfilmer's contest. For the contest, animators are challenged to submit their best work that made its debut in 2012. However, we are having trouble deciding what to submit. Therefore, you will decide what we submit in a new poll. It is on the right side of this page (as usual) and contains the names of the three brickfilms we released this year (others like Plankton Strikes Back! and The Roulette Match do not count, since they are re-releases). The poll ends November 30th, with the results and submission revealed December 1st. As a side note, if you want to submit one of your own films, go to the contest video here and follow the rules.
Finally, Zoo Flight is having more problems, but is expected to be done by the end of the month. It will probably be our most complicated interactive game, even though it is very short. Other problems, such as assembling the prize, will be resolved during this time for its holiday 2012 release.
Be sure to keep an eye out for a teaser for The Film School Challenge, coming soon!
