Lego Studios Receives Letter from Reporter

By: Andrew Bermudez (Lego Studios; July 21, 2010)      Typically, the studio does not report this kind of stuff, since they get plenty of fan mail every day (there was especially an influx of hate mail when Worcester was mispronounced in Worcester Cold Storage Warehouse Fire ). However, there was one letter that struck Mark Matthew as very interesting, since it was from the same reporter who said that the ending of Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile was an obvious set up for another sequel. This is what the letter said:      To the Lego Studios Board of Directors,      As you may know, I was the reporter from ABS Daily that attended the world premiere of Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile last Friday. As you may know, I called the ending an obvious set up for a potential Johnny Thunder 3 , which was confirmed later that day. Even though it seems like the Johnny Thunder franchise will not be ending anytime ...

'Johnny Thunder 2' has Finally Arrived!

Image
By: Andrew Bermudez (Legotown Cinema; July 16, 2010)      It has been two years since the rough ideas were put on paper for Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile . Finally, after all of the writing, filming, and editing, the movie has now been released! "It's so hard to believe. The first installment in this Johnny Thunder franchise came out just two years ago. Now the second installment is here!" said boom operator Sarah Williamson.      At the world premiere, the entire cast and crew came to watch the 57-minute film. Also there were journalists and Legotown's most famous film critics: Roger Ebrick and Richard Rebuild. They gave the film two c-hands up. "Best of all, we let Dracula attend the red carpet event so no tension would be created," said film director Steven Lawrence.      However, a journalist for ABS Daily pointed out that the ending feels too much like a set-up for a possible Johnny Thunder 3 . "That's ex...

Studio Update: One Week to Go...

Image
By: Andrew Bermudez (Lego Studios; July 9, 2010)      The excitement is building in the fan community for the Johnny Thunder films: they only have to wait 7 days until the release of Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile ! "We ran into a snag with a portion of the film at the beginning of the month, forcing us to re-edit act 3. We thought the release might be delayed, but it's now taken care of for the release on July 16th. We can certainly say that, even though we ran into a few mishaps along the way, we managed to pull through it all and get the film released," said director Steven Lawrence.      However, not all of the projected release days survived the storm. "We're going to have to indefinitely delay the release of Forest of Fear ," said boom operator Sarah Williamson. "The crew is already in Georgia to begin filming the movie, but the storyboards aren't ready yet. What's worse is that information got out that there would be the ...

Image
By: Andrew Bermudez (Lego Studios; June 15, 2010)      Several months ago, the Cafe Corner restaurant in downtown announced that between June 21st and and August 30th, 2010, free toys based on the two Johnny Thunder films would come with the Klutz Kidz meal. However, the studio has allowed the toys to be released early in hopes of increasing the hype even more. Unlike last year's toys for The Adventures of Legoman , however, these toys will be mini play sets that include characters that go along with the scene. These are the eight play sets.      Boulder Ambush: While escaping from the Scorpion Palace, Johnny and his friends get chased by an enormous boulder through the hallways of an ancient city! Includes Johnny, Pippin, Babloo, Thief #3, Lord Sinister and Billy figurines. Also includes spring action boulder and track to "chase" the adventurers.      Three Questions: The adventurers are almost to the golden sword,...

Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo Fan Page!

By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; June 8, 2010)      I've just discovered that one of the voice actors from the movie Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo has created a fan page on Facebook. Unfortunately, she is in the know and is giving away secrets about the sequel. In spite of this, the fan page is a great place if you would like to discuss the first movie or the sequel. I might even join in on the fun myself.

Studio Updates: New 'Johnny Thunder 2' Trailer! Plus a Documentary.

By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; May 15, 2010)      Recently, two new videos were created by Mustache Maniacs Film Co. The first, released on the company's second Youtube Channel ( http://www.youtube.com/user/Flashoverfilms ), is a stylized short documentary about the Worcester Cold Storage Warehouse Fire. It is designed to be both informative about the event and respectful to the Worcester Six who lost their lives in the blaze. The project was created for the Fire Tech 105 class at College of the Canyons.      Also, as promised, the new trailer for Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile is now online! Unlike the other trailers, this one uses the actual voices that will appear in the finished film. The trailer includes characters not seen in preceding trailers, including the top hatted Slyboots and navy blue vested Jim Carew (he doesn't speak in the trailer).      With these two short vide...
