Studio Update: A Look Back At "Sand: The Movie" and Ahead to the Fan Choice Awards!

    We've been busy with a gusty whirlwind of work lately, but we do have some news to share! And with our most recent release, that whirlwind was more like a sandstorm! Let's jump right in!

Sand: The Movie: An April Fool's Day Joke About Nothing was Released!

    In case you missed it, April Fool's Day was back on this past Tuesday. And as is the tradition around here, we couldn't resist getting in on the fun! So, how did we follow up on the AI-generated travesty that was Atlanta Nights? Simple: we released Sand: The Movie, a film that promises to uncover the secrets of the shifting sands, but in actuality, literally nothing happens. Officially, it's our first-ever spin-off of a spin-off of a spin-off, itself alluding to the nature of the joke. And while the joke lies in the fact that it's basically a non-film, it was still directed and designed to be as visually interesting as possible. If you want to take a look into this small, incidental, and insignificant corner of the cinematic universe, the film has been embedded here for your viewing pleasure.

Wait. Sand: The Movie is Canonical to the Cinematic Universe?

    That's right. If you read that last section closely, you will notice that Sand: The Movie is officially canonical to the Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Cinematic Universe. How, you may be asking, does this fit into the timeline? The film officially takes place concurrently with the 1998 events of Camel: The Movie, especially when Camel is following Slyboots' motorcade. More to the point, however, is what this film brings to the table story-wise. The answer? Nothing, which is the nature of the joke. However, while this film doesn't bring anything new to the cinematic universe, since it is nothing, that also means that it technically doesn't break the canon, either. It's just looking at a desert landscape in the cinematic universe in the year 1998 for five minutes.

The Final Push for The Fourth Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Fan Choice Awards!

    But while that film may have shown you nothing, we're developing quite the opposite behind the scenes! This month is going to be our final push to finish The Fourth Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Fan Choice Awards and finally release it! This film has been delayed for over a year now, so our priority is to finally finish it and release for the world to enjoy! Per our new release policy, we will have a final release date confirmed when the film enters post-production.

And What About Those Subtitles?

    This is another on-going development as well, but we are still aiming to begin debuting subtitles for all of our films very soon! It's still going to be on a rolling basis, but we're aiming to begin adding these subtitles on April 17! That day is No Limits for Deaf Children Day, so we wanted to begin spreading joy to our youngest viewers suffering from hearing loss by adding these subtitles! Several titles will be rolling out subtitles that day, but the rest will be added through the end of 2026.
