Studio Update: Contemplating THAC XIII, Releasing "Mission Deep Jungle," and Driving Fan Engagement

For today's advent gift, we're giving you a studio update! Let's see what's been going on!
First, as the release of our highly-anticipated film Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle approaches, we're getting ready to create a full trailer for the movie. While a bulk of the work will be done this weekend, we should have the trailer out next week.
This should then highlight a production issue we've run into: filming is not yet finished. "We want this film to look as good as possible," said LEGO Studios CEO Mark Matthew. "Since we are starting a brand new franchise with this movie, we need to make sure that it looks even more polished than anything we've done before." Because of this, Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle's release is going to operate similarly to the release of Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo. On Christmas Day, only part 1 will be released. Then, as each part of the movie is completed, more will be released accordingly. However, unlike Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo, since filming is on-going, expect larger time gaps between parts, possibly extending into February.
However, there was talk of filling the first of these time gaps with something to kick off Year of the Clock: an entry to THAC XIII! "Recently, on Bricks In Motion, it was announced that THAC XIII will be held on January 2," said Drawn to Life Animation president Steve Brocko. "I approached Mark Matthew with the idea of using the contest to springboard us into Year of the Clock, but I'm not sure if he's on-board with the idea, especially with the work needed with Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle. We should probably have a meeting about this over the weekend." In the meantime, we would like to hear your thoughts about this proposal. Do you think it's a good way to start Year of the Clock, or just a waste of time?
Speaking of turning to the fans, there was talk of continuing to drive fan engagement, after the on-going advent calendar has been doing just that. "It's not much, but we are getting the fans to talk to us again," said Mark Matthew. "So, to continue this, we would like to turn to the fans to see what you would like to see out of us in the future. Just remember that for us, nothing is set in stone until a film is actually released, so don't feel like you'll have to wait until the end of Project U to see your suggestions implemented." In order to fulfill this discussion with fans, a short questionnaire was compiled. To answer, just leave a comment with your answers.

  1. 1. I was browsing around you tube looking for Johnny Thunder films and stumbled across part one of "Secret of Marco Polo." I was lucky in that despite having jsut found you you'd only just released part 1, so I could see you guys through the ride. And what a ride it was!
    2. Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo is not only my favorite Film of yours but it's #3 in my list of top 10 Johnny Thunder stories (se the full list here: http://tlfscarheart.deviantart.com/journal/Top-10-Johnny-Thunder-Stories-544855553)
    3. I'll just copy and paste what I put in my top ten list:Us lego fans saw Johnny go on an epic quest for the golden dragon around the same time all the Bionicle movies came out. We wanted Johnny to get that treatment but we were denied...until these guys made it a reality! Yes this was every Johnny thunder Fan's dream come true. A feature length Johnny thunder film (and for a while holder of the record for the longest brickfilm period.) And it was awesome! It was exciting, funny, full of references for both Lego and pop culture, and simply brought the characters to life. I also love how they didn't skimp out on the Mt Everest part the same way Lego itself and 99% of retellings do.
    4. Solarum
    5. I'm not normally a fan of your live action or traditional animation works. There are exceptions but over all I like your brickfilms best. So I was anxious to see what was first in this long list of brickfilms labeled "Project U." IT turned out to be....a skit about an advertising company looking into selling solar pannels....what?! What's entertaining about this? Granted I am anything but a buisnesswoman so maybe there were things I just wasn't getting. none the less...I left that film feeling confused and disappointed.
    6. You have so much passion for what you do. you honestly love making films and ost of the time it shows.
    7. ...Okay I'll be frank...you guys aren't that good at making music. I get that you want to avoid copyright but maybe ask someone to do the music for you? My buddy Dyklan (who is voicing Charge for you) is good at it.
    8. Try attending cons! Great place to build an audience!
    9. I'd love mroe interactive games. Imagine me going on an adventure with the Alpha Team without Charge calling me a "Crippled Freak" like he does in my films! Okay serriously though. Interactive games. keep 'em in mind!
    10. Have done to a few friends actually! You're welcome!
