Studio Update: Getting Ready for Halloween and the Rest of 2014

Halloween is almost here, and that means our villain countdown is almost over and that it's time for another studio update! Let's see what's been going on.
Some could argue that it violates our current policy, but both True Identity and Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients Production Gallery were released today. However, it is worth mentioning that only one of them is an actual film, which the policy applies to. The other is a behind the scenes video, which the policy of not releasing more than one film a day does not effect. Both are available on YouTube, though there is a possibility that True Identity will also be released on Vimeo.
In other news, plans are being shaped out for the remainder of Ten Years of Going Crazy!, as 2014 is coming to a close. "There wasn't as much nostalgia towards old-school Mustache Maniacs Film Co. this year than we hoped," said LEGO Studios CEO and President Mark Matthew. "While it is always great to do new things and push the envelope, I think we also need to reflect on the past during this anniversary." Because of this, we are proud to introduce the final phase of From the Vaults: From the Vaults Memories!
Still from Trip to LEGOLAND, one of the films being re-released.
While using the same From the Vaults logo as before, From the Vaults Memories will celebrate, in addition to re-releasing, individual films from the past that have not yet been re-released. Just like before, these films may or may not be re-edited for more modern audiences; it all depends on what technology will allow. The films that will return to the light of day over the next two months are:
  • Indiana Jones and the Forbidden Mayan Temple
  • Indiana Jones and the Egyptian Tomb
  • Trip to LEGOLAND
  • Alpha Team vs. the Black Cat
  • Com 50-3: Raid on Central Island
  • From Sea to Shining Sea
However, do note that not all of these will be the full films. For example, while the original version of From Sea to Shining Sea was two hours long, the re-release will probably not break the twenty-minute mark. All of these will feature an introduction by Andrew Bermudez, who will briefly reflect on the said film. Just like before, any existing behind-the-scenes material will also be re-released.
Also, a contest started today to promote the upcoming book Brick Flicks. The contest, entitled Lights, Camera, LEGO!, celebrates stop-motion animation with LEGO sets and pieces by using the theme movie magic. Though there is no word on it, the possibility of us creating an entry for this contest is always there, since an entry could also reflect on the first ten years of Mustache Maniacs Film Co. If you are interested in entering, just click here to see the contest page.
We are also putting out a few new promotions as well. The first, starting November 1 and ending election day, November 4, is a special Legends of the Universe-themed election, where we are letting the fans influence the film by voting for characters to appear in the film! The candidates will be sorted into three categories: LEGO Universe Characters, Canon Immigrants, and Original Characters. None of the candidates are currently scheduled to appear in Legends of the Universe, but your decisions will send three of them to the silver screen! During the elections, feel free to rally support for your favorites.
After that, in mid-November, we will be hosting another contest, this one themed to True Identity, that will send the winner home with a 2015 Mustache Maniacs Film Co. calendar. More details on that contest will surface at its start time.
Finally, there is still no definite release date for our THAC 12 entry, mainly because the contest has yet to be announced. However, we are estimating that it will probably be out around December 19. Just keep in mind, though, that this is only an estimate, NOT when it will actually be released.
Thank you for finding out about all that we will be up to. Join us next month as we delve back into Archive Collections, filled with new surprises!
10/25/2014 Update: The long-suspended Project U-Build Play Set Adventures will resume on November 1, as an efficient method of distribution for the set instructions has been verified.
