Despite the lack of this month's Ask Mark Matthew, as no questions were asked last month, there is still plenty of activity at the studio as three animated films are prepared for release. Let's see what's going on!
Despite initial problems, it looks like New Friends ~ An Environmental Fable will be done in time for both the showcase presentation on May 31st and its online debut on June 7th. "We are all really excited about this film," Said LEGO Studios CEO Mark Matthew. "It's already been 8 months since development began, and the final product is looking great! I can't wait to see it all finished!" Currently, new shots are being filmed for the movie, along with the creation of new background props. This is expected to be wrapped up today, with refinement on these shots beginning tomorrow. As stated above, the film will be released June 7th.
Also picking up pace is the development for A Bite of MyJobs, an educational film about COC's MyJobs program. "We were getting behind schedule back in March," said director Andrew Bermudez. "But we now have that straightened out. We will begin animating on Tuesday, now that the Flash assets have been created and archived." The plan is to have the film finished near the end of May, with an official release on May 31st at the Student Film Showcase. "Therefore," noted Andrew, "We will release the online version on June 1st. We could release it online on May 31st, but the day is booked solid for business and other matters pertaining to the showcase."
That said, things aren't looking so good for the filming for both A Friend of the Police and Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients. "Filming has slowed down for both of these productions," said Mark Matthew. "We can't afford any more delays, especially since A Friend of the Police comes out this May." With that, Mark plans on putting both film crews back into shape, even if it means firing anyone who is creating dead weight. A Friend of the Police, an entry to the Nightly News at Nine's Police Show Contest, is scheduled for release on May 24th, and Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients will be released July 2014.
Finally, The Old LEGO Studios Film Hunt has almost ended. So far, the only film recovered was Remember the Alamo. Stay tuned for the final results here on the press room!
