All New Ask Mark Matthew!

By: Andrew Bermudez
(LEGO Studios; December 1, 2012)
Today, we bring you another 'Ask Mark Matthew,' containing 100% new material! Let's get started!
thepianogod5 writes: Wait. Robert Teabing was a girl?
Mark: Yes and no. The character Robert Teabing is male, but voice actor Teresa Bermudez is female. This happened because of several issues with voice actors flaking out, others ending up in other roles, and subsequent re-castings. In the end, one man was played by a woman (Robert Teabing) and one woman was played by a man (Jing Lee). Now, because of this chaotic casting, we have a strict policy about a voice actor playing someone opposite to their sex. The policy states:
"If it shall be necessary, an actor can only perform as a character of the opposite biological sex of this actor in question if and only if that actor in question is able to perform to such a degree that their performance allows them to convincingly portray their opposite biological sex."
Since then, only one time has someone played a character opposite to their sex: the rude mom in An Afternoon at the Zoo was played by Raul Flores. Then again, Robert Teabing's performance turned out well enough for an award nomination, so I guess that's significant.

johnnythunder789 writes: It [Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients] looks sooo good. Why can't it come out sooner?
Mark: We are working hard to get this film done, but we need plenty of time to make it work, considering that it will be 2 hours long and have lots of state-of-the-art effects. That's why we want to wait until 2014 to release the film.

jeangael57 writes: Soooo, it's going to be a long movie?....SWEET!
Mark: That's right. To be exact, Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients is going to be two hours long, as stated above. While the fans noted that they felt that Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile was too short, the reason why the film will be long is because that's what the script requires. In that case, so be it.

MRlegobuilder987 writes: Can I sign up [for The Film School Challenge] now?
Mark: Yes! As long as you follow all of the registration guidelines in the second teaser, you can sign up now. Just remember that you must sign up by February 28th, 2013. In addition, when the contest starts, you are obligated to make an entry for each round until you either win or are eliminated.

Gake N. Fay writes: Voice Acting?!...LOL! Voice over...
Mark: Actually, there is a difference between voice acting and voice over. Voice over is just narration that helps explain what is going on, like in The Adventures of Legoman. Voice acting, on the other hand, is creating a voice for an animated character using emotions and acting. Both are recorded the same way, but have different uses. Hope this clarifies things!

That's it for today's edition of Ask Mark Matthew. Don't forget that if you have a question, be sure to send it as a private message to YouTube user historylegoman. Until then, we'll be making movies!
