Studio Update: New Film, Vacation: Unlimited Contest Ends, and More

Summer vacation has arrived, which brings us to another studio update! Today, we have a new film, the end of a contest, the future of Vacation: Unlimited, and more. Let's get started!
After some time, the school project Night Guard has now been released with some adjustments. If you wish to see the original cut shown in class, it's available to watch on Vimeo under the name Andrew Bermudez, Night Guard, 1:46. "We are glad that this humorous film has now been released," said LEGO Studios CEO Mark Matthew. "We really want to show it off to the world. While it's not long, it is still very funny."
In other news, the long-hyped Vacation: Unlimited contest ends tonight at 11:59 PDT with only one entry submitted. "I personally find this to be a blow to the studio," said Sam Snead, head of marketing and public relations. "I figured that we may not get a lot of entries, but ONLY ONE!?! I guess we didn't spread the word enough. But, if I were to put a positive spin on this, this means that our judges don't have a lot of work to do." Soon after Sam said this, Mark reminded him that the contest hasn't actually ended yet, which means more entries could come in. However, if you have an entry, you MUST have it online and either have it as a video response to the contest video (if it is a film) or e-mailed to the e-mail listed in the contest rules (if it is a creation) by 11:59 PDT. All entries submitted after then will be disqualified.
Update: The contest is now over, but Sam may need to hold his tongue more often. More entries have been submitted.
However, when this contest has ended, where will Vacation: Unlimited go from here? After all, back in February, when Vacation: Unlimited started, it was noted that the promotion would end April 2013, with an in-development replacement starting immediately after. So, what happens now? Well, to pass the summer, new Vacation: Unlimited material will be released. Besides the continuing travel journal, Mark Matthew shared some new things coming soon. "I'm sure that we'll all be going on vacation this summer, and we want someplace where you can share your photos. Therefore, coming in August is a brand new page on the Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Website where fans can share their vacation photos. Please note that in order to use this new aspect of the promotion, you must be a member of the website."
Along with this, a new link has appeared on the "Vacation: Unlimited" page. This link will take you to the "Travels of Johnny Thunder" blog by Stephen Bishop. This wonderful blog chronicles Johnny's travels around the United States, visiting national parks and historic landmarks.
Also, a new guest writer will occasionally write in the Vacation: Unlimited journal. Sarah Thunder will be writing about her vacation around the world as she goes on location for Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients. She will begin writing late June 2012.
Speaking of Johnny Thunder 3, filming for the said movie has been running very smoothly. Currently, filming in Newfoundland is wrapping up. Filming in London will begin soon, with the film coming out summer 2014.
As for the release dates, Com 50 and 007 returns July 20th, Mystery at Shady Acres returns August 17th, Late for the Soccer Match kicks in on October 19th, and Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients will be discovered summer 2014. Unfortunately, Zoo Flight has been delayed.
Update: Starting later this month, we'll begin a 3-D Beta test on some of our films. We will appreciate any feedback on how the 3-D looks.

  1. I would have entered if it was a virtual prize. I feel twitchy just buying things off ebay.

I'm in england now (wpeaking of vacation) and my 3d glasses are at home but I will deffinantly give feed back. meantime here's a tip I picked up osmewhere about 3d magic.

when you animate something to really pop out at the audience (IE a bubble that looks like you can reach out and grab it), don't let the thing that's popping out touch the sides of the screen or it will ruin the effect.
