Just in time for Memorial Day, the all-new LEGO City Undercover and The Adventures of Legoman-inspired film, A Friend of the Police, officially debuted, marking the start of the summer season. "We are so excited to have this film out for Memorial Day," said Mark Matthew, CEO of LEGO Studios. "Considering that it takes the classic Mustache Maniacs Film Co. character Legoman and pairs him up with the highly-popular Chase McCain, we are sure to have a winner on our hands." And that's not to say that the studio only expects a high turnout for viewership. "The critics say it's great," said Seth Masterson, host of The Film School Challenge. "The Nightly News at Nine, who is hosting the 'Police Show Contest,' which this is an entry for, gave the film praise, saying:
"Great work, an exceeding excellent entry!"
It's not much, but it shows the love that David M. Pickett, creator of The Nightly News At Nine, has for the film. Considering this comment is from the man who is running the contest for which this film is a part, I am certain that the LEGO Shop at Home gift card is mine! Sorry, just gloating a little." The film can now be viewed, which naturally has a 3-D version, here.
However, next week's release, A Bite of MyJobs, may have to be delayed due to refining. "Our goal was to get this film done by May 31st, but that's starting to look like a long stretch. We could have the animating done by then, but having a final product on that date is a long stretch." Apparently, refinements were requested to make the film even better. While it is important to make the film its very best, meeting the deadline is starting to appear less likely as a result. As a result, A Bite of MyJobs may have to be delayed into the summer, though it will be done before the summer ends.
Moving on to a more positive note, everything is ready for New Friends ~ An Environmental Fable and filming for Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients is ready to continue, which is currently working at Great Zimbabwe. Be sure to check out New Friends at COC's student film showcase in May 31st, at 7:00 PM, in Hasley Hall 101. See you there!
