Mustache Maniacs Film Co. will soon be on Vimeo and Wikia!

By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; February 6, 2013)      Right on the heels of the announcement that some new animations will be coming this spring is more news: yet another website expansion is about to begin! However, this website expansion will not be on as big a scale as the previous expansions. The reason for this is that the expansion will include an expansion of our online presence: a new channel on Vimeo and the official Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Wiki on Wikia! "We are pleased to bring these two new offerings to our fan base," said Sam Snead, head of public relations and marketing. "With our Vimeo channel, we will be able to show off our films to an entirely new audience, while the Wiki will allow fans to look up articles about their favorite Mustache Maniacs Film Co. movies, characters, locations, actors, and more." Both will open in March, with all the initial content in place by June.      As for the expansion of...

Studio Update: Project Work Continues and More Projects are About to Begin

By: Andrew Bermudez (LEGO Studios; February 4, 2013)      Super Bowl Sunday is behind us, which means another update about what has been happening here at the studio! Let's get started!      After last year's delays, filming for Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients  has now started to move at a brisk pace. "However," said Steven Lawrence, the film's director, "In a strange twist, we've just finished the Great Barrier scene, which is three-quarters of the way into the film. We may have stopped shooting in order, but I realize that this is for the better. At this point, it's not a matter of getting the film done in order, it's about getting the film done, period." Despite this, the rest of the scenes taking place in Zimbabwe will be finished by the end of February. Then the cast and crew will head to Romania to continue filming. However, all of the scenes taking place in Harry Cane's airplane may be shot in route. The film w...

All New Ask Mark Matthew!

By: Andrew Bermudez (LEGO Studios; February 2, 2013)      Today we bring you another 'Ask Mark Matthew,' containing 100% new material! Let's get started! movieguider73 writes: Could I be the official film reviewer of Mustache Maniac Film. Co.? Mark: Sure! In fact, anyone can write a review for any Mustache Maniacs Film Co. movie. However, we do not count forum posts or video comments as reviews. In order to count as a review (and therefore end up on the "Critic's Corner" page of the website), it must be in the format of a critical review, a scholarly review, or both. henryawlee writes: Is he [Dr. Jim Carew] on Lego.com? Mark: Yes, indeed! In the office scene in Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile, Dr. Jim Carew is logged onto Lego.com on his computer. This is actually one of many hidden images in the film, so keep an eye out for the rest!      That's it for today's edition of Ask Mark Matthew! don't forget that if you have a question,...

"From the Vaults" to Debut a Never-Before-Seen Film, and More!

Image
By: Andrew Bermudez (LEGO Studios; January 22, 2013)      With work continuing on Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients , New Friends ~ An Environmental Fable , and Zoo Flight , the next "From the Vaults" re-release was unveiled in a recent teaser for The Film School Challenge . While Seth Masterson was looking for the old LEGO Studios movies, he uncovered something else that caught his eye: footage from the never-released animated film, Remember the Alamo . With plans to clean it up with the Adobe Creative Suite, he expects to have the film finished for release sometime in the spring. "The film tells the story of the Battle of the Alamo," said Seth Masterson. "While it is very crude, I plan to make it look as professional as possible."      However, what is interesting here is that it will be a "From the Vaults" release, even though it has never been released until now. "It was a tough sell at the time," said Thomas Broc...

"Animation Reel 2" Debuts with new Logo

Image
By: Andrew Bermudez (Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; January 8, 2013)      Earlier today, a demo reel from MEA 135 class was released, showcasing some animation from that class (you can watch it  here ). However, a more important element of this release is the logo at the beginning. If you compare it to previous releases, you will notice that this logo has been highly upgraded with banners, text, and more. "This logo update is very important," said LEGO Studios CEO Mark Matthew. "Before, the technology used in our films was a little...dated, to say the least, so the old logo worked. However, we now have the entire Adobe CS6 Creative Suite. We can literally add big-budget special effects, highly stylized fonts, dramatic credits, and more to our films, giving our films a professional touch. However, the unintended side effect is that our films will now look so good, the old logo will look bad in comparison. That is what makes this update imp...

All New Ask Mark Matthew!

By: Andrew Bermudez (LEGO Studios; January 1, 2013)      Happy new year! Today we bring you another 'Ask Mark Matthew,' containing 100% new material! Let's get started! MrDiscoTaco writes:  Why did you take down some of your Johnny thunder videos? Mark:  We haven't. The thing is that some of the videos are blocked in certain countries. However, we are looking at ways to prevent this in the future. First, as mentioned in the past, we now compose all of our own music. Second, to make older films available entirely, we are currently tossing around the idea of releasing download-able versions on the website. Hope that answers your question! redwolflupa writes:  Did anyone see Cole possibly misspelled in the back of the mob? Mark:  Yes, the ninja in the mob does resemble Cole from Ninjago, but it is not him. It is actually the ninja from the Collectible Minifigures Series. But, just as a side note, you did spell Cole correctly, so no need to...

The Year in Review: 2012

By: Andrew Bermudez (LEGO Studios; December 26, 2012)      Yet another year is coming to a close, with the next upon us. We all hope you had a very merry Christmas and we hope that you will also have a happy new year. With this comes our new holiday tradition: the year in review! "This was a year for substantial growth for us," said LEGO Studios CEO "In the course of just twelve months, we've released 6 films, re-released an additional 10, created 1 game, ran a promotional theme, hosted two contests, and participated in an additional two contests, among other things. In fact, we're well underway for what we'll be doing in 2013." Until we get to that, however, here is a look at what has happened since January. January      The year started with the introduction of a new series of films. "From the Vaults" was created as a way to host remastered editions of old Mustache Maniacs Film Co. movies online. In the meantime, the popular web comi...
