Look at What We Found in Our Archives!

With just a couple short days before the release of Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle, we've found something interesting in our archives that actually relates to Friday's release. Read on to find out more!
If you've read our Archive Collections article last year about Com 50's gadgets, then you might remember that an old, non-canon legal name for the character was Steve Kenlow, which was then given to a new character in Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle. Well, the place that this information came from is a never-released book titled Mustache Maniacs Film Co.: A Cast of Characters, a book about several different characters from 2004 through 2010. Most of it is non-canon and the premise is made obsolete by the wiki, but here are some excerpts from the book, just to reflect back.
Introduction

Characters are the most important part of any story. They are the people, animals, or anything else that drive the story forward and give it depth. In order for these characters to be memorable, however, they must stand out with distinct personalities that will be remembered. The films of Mustache Maniacs Film Co. are no exception.
The main characters are the heroes. These are the people that must attain a goal for the greater good. Heroes in the past have ranged from daring (Johnny Thunder) to justice-seeking (Legoman), reluctant (Roger Goodman), and tricky (Com 50).
However, the road to victory is always a tough one, especially if there’s a villain in the way. Mustache Maniacs Film Co.’s villains have reasons to get in the hero’s way, including a quick pay day (Stanley L. Arson), doing the bidding of someone else (Hermione), greed (Long John Sliver), and world domination (Shriff Aha).
Besides the heroes and villains, there are also other characters that come along for the ride. These secondary characters can add all sorts of things to a film, like adding comic relief (Patrick), giving a major character a companion (Officer Max Parker), and advancing key points in the story (X).
Now that you better understand characters and what they do, it’s now time to meet some of Mustache Maniacs Film Co.’s most memorable characters.
For the record, to avoid confusion, the Hermione listed here is the villain from Kilroy Was Here!. Maybe we'll create a wiki page for her next Halloween. You might recognize some other names as well, including Legoman, Patrick, and Stanley L. Arson.
Com 50

Movies (movies this character appeared in): Com 50, Com 50: Peril in Iran, Com 50 and 007, Com 50-3: Raid on Central Island, Com 50 Covert Operations: the DVD Game (Coming September 2010)

Profile (background on character): Ever since he was a child, Simon Kenlow always wanted to help his country in any way he can. He soon found that he had a gift for moving about without getting detected and with chemistry. It was soon determined that he would get into espionage and work for the CIA. There, he was given the codename Com 50 and sent on daring missions around the world to stop the evil terrorist organization Cal Pada. With his friend 007, he has always succeeded in destroying their hidden bases, whether they be in Iran or on Central Island.

Current Location (where this character went after the end credits): Recently, with the success of the Central Island mission and his promotion to Omega Agent, Com 50 has been doing desk work at the office. There are even rumors circulating that he might be offered to train the next generation of super spies. Besides, Cal Pada has been destroyed… he, he… right?
You can see a bit of a parallel between this book and the pages on the wiki, though this is far less detailed. You could even say that even though this book was never released, it was actually a precursor to the wiki. You can also see a slight factual error we made. His legal name was Simon Kenlow, not Steve. Regardless, this is still no longer canon.
Jonathan Henry Thunder

Movies: Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo, A Very Patrick Christmas, Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile (Coming July 16, 2010)

Profile: Johnny Thunder is an Australian from the town of Brisbane. After his father, Daniel Thunder, died in a car crash, Johnny and his mother moved to Legotown, Connecticut. Here, Johnny fell in love with both adventuring and his current wife, Pippin Reed. After getting his degree in history, Johnny, with his friends, went to the corners of the Earth to search for treasure. Through it all, they’ve always had to dodge Johnny’s arch enemy, Lord Samuel Rudolph Sinister.

Current Location: After flying the Golden Dragon to Venice, Johnny and his friends returned home with a story to tell Johnny and Pippin’s daughter, Sarah. However, a mysterious letter will soon send them on another adventure.
As this book was written before Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile was released, Johnny's profile is pretty barren. Most of this is still canon, but the official fate of Johnny's mother is currently debated for the official character profile.
Private Joe Kilroy Movie: Kilroy Was Here! Profile: A California resident who was drafted into World War 2, Joe Kilroy is an eccentric artist who has a tendency to leave his signature doodle wherever possible. After a week of training in the Brooklyn area, he was approached by agents Elliot and Horace to assist them in stopping a Nazi spy ring. He soon agreed and they gave him a cover story that he was an expert code-breaker. While undercover, he fell in love with riveter Gladys Brooks while hanging out at the USO. Eventually, he got inside the hideout, allowing agents Rona, June, and Gretchen to arrest the spies. His cover was lifted and Elliot and Horace gave him permission to ship out.
Current Location: He is now making the final preparations to ship out. However, even though the spies have been locked up, there is danger still lurking ahead.
This bio is more of a plot summary for Kilroy Was Here! than anything else (and a pretty skimpy one at that), there are still elements that hold up to this day. However, his home state is still being debated and, in the current story, he isn't approached after a week of training, but rather a week after he arrived in Brooklyn from his training.
Legoman

Movie: The Adventures of Legoman

Profile: Theodore Parkington is a rich lawyer who has always wanted to seek justice. However, criminal masterminds began to assume false names and disguises, making them hard to catch. This forced Parkington to create an alter ego for himself: the crime-fighting Legoman! Using an arsenal of gadgets invented by his geeky son, Legoman is able to outsmart and capture Legotown’s evildoers, whoever they may be.

Current Location: After hauling Brickzo the Clown and his accomplices to jail, Theodore Parkington now resides in his manor, waiting for the next call to action.
Ah, yes. Legoman; the character no one wanted to remember until A Friend of the Police redeemed him.  It's interesting to look back at this old description because it not only tells us that he's a lawyer when he's not Legoman, but also that he has a son who invents all of his gadgets. Could this result in another Legoman film? This description isn't canon, but that doesn't mean that it can't be.

To finish off, here's the book's table of contents. Since the book was never completed, most of these characters were left with no bios, though most would eventually get their own wiki pages. it's also worth noting the changes that have been made (Max Denver from The Adventures of Legoman and A Friend of the Police is listed as Max Parker). But could this result in something new? While the wiki will always remain the resource center for the official canon and history, there is still talk about what The Quest for Canonization will really be about. We'll see when the time comes.
Anyway, that just about wraps up our look at Mustache Maniacs Film Co.: The Cast of Characters. With parting words, we would like to say Merry Christmas and remember to watch Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle this Friday. Finally, SIGN UP FOR AUDITIONS TODAY!!!
