Twenty Years Countdown: "A Future in the Past" Joins the Celebration!

    As we continue counting down the days to the beginning of Twenty Years Young, we're taking a first peek at a film that was originally set to be released this year, but will now be joining the celebration! Let's see what's in store!

A Future in the Past Now Set for June 21, 2024 Debut!

    While we have made this decision in the best interest of quality control and to balance out our workload for the remainder of 2023, A Future in the Past is now debuting on June 21 of 2024! We're still excited to bring the LEGO Time Cruisers story to life in a brand new way that not only gives this much derided LEGO theme a reinvention, but also sets a new plot thread for Project U into motion!

Why This Time Travel Story is Perfect for Twenty Years Young

    We also have a strong case for pushing this film back to make it an official Twenty Years Young release (we have actually contemplated this move for over a year now, only now making it official), as it wholly embraces the theme of Looking Back and Forward that the celebration is going to pursue as a whole. The Time Cruisers are going to visit stories that take place in the past in this film, all the while also giving the events of those past stories additional context in their place in the cinematic universe. The universe's rules of time travel have already been established since 2010's When Barrels Fly, so bringing the LEGO Time Cruisers storyline (or, at least, what little story it had, and even that was pretty inconsistent from region to region) into the cinematic universe was no hard feat. But with all of this time traveling, the film's heroes do have some surprise encounters.

The Ultimate Time Travel Crossover!

    While this film will NOT be crossing over every time travel story ever created (that would require an entire bottle of Excedrin in order to figure out how that would work), this film will see Ulysses S. Powell and the the Time Cruisers coming into contact with several characters from Mustache Maniacs Film Co.'s past, including Jake Raines and co. from Pharaoh's Quest: The Curse of Amset-Ra, the reformed Dr. Robert Nicholas from Dino Attack RPG, Pvt. Joe Kilroy (now a corporal) and his squad from Kilroy Was Here!, and several more! In fact, there's a small group of characters that will appear in the background of this film that will have a lot more prominence in a later 2024 release.

Characters from Greed and Grit will Debut in this Film!

    While John Hitchcock has spent several years writing the upcoming western film Greed and Grit, many of its leading characters will actually debut as background extras in A Future in the Past! Ulysses still takes center stage when he returns to the time and place which he left in When Barrels Fly, but the background will be full of characters that might have more to say than their out-of-focus nature may lead you to believe. In addition to this, the small cliffhanger that appeared at the very end of Tale of Ulysses (as in, after the credits) is finally going to be resolved here, which also sets up the backbone of this film's plot and set up a surprise twist in Alpha Team: Mission Deep City!

Get Ready for Twenty Years Young!

    So even with Twenty Years Young still a few months away, this celebration continues to expand! But that's not all, because this film is not the only entry into Project U that is currently scheduled to be a part of the celebration!
