Camel: The Movie Debuts!
An Upcoming Band Named East to West has Signed a Three-Year Contract With Us!
Love the Works of Rioforce Studios? We Do! Nearly All of Their Films are Canonical Now!
If you're not familiar with Rioforce Studios, they are a third party studio (we have never worked with them in the past) that has created several funny short animations and are quite the presence on Bricks in Motion. Their star projects are the Captain D. Rom series and the award-winning film Sola Luna. However, since The Employee of the Month roped The Citizen of the Year into our official canon, which by extension roped in the Rioforce film (un)denial, and that film features Captain D. Rom, that must mean that ALL of their films are now canonical for our cinematic universe! In case you were wondering, here is a list of their films that are considered canonical now. All existing rules have been taken into account.
- Johnny Thunder in: The Letter
- 5000 Guests for Dinner
- A Question for Dad
- Captain D. Rom in: The Felony at the Fruit Stand
- Rednecks & Redcoats
- An Adventure Story
- He Will Return
- The Death of Coiffure
- Journey to the Center of Time
- Christmas Puppy Love
- Captain D. Rom in: New Recruits
- Paper Valentine
- Arose
- Captain D. Rom in: The Surveillance Situation
- Sola Luna
- MECH
- Hungry Harry
- Race of a Legend
- Equine Introspection
- Character of a Ninja
- Immature Antics of an Evildoer
- Captain D. Rom in: Abduction on a Exotic Island!
- Spirit of the West
- Whale, Whale, Whale
- Captain D. Rom in: Infraction at the Intersection
- Necromancy in Nevada
- ATLAS
- Summer Leaves
- Night Guard
- One Way Street
- Princess Storm
- Captain D. Rom in: The Birthday Bandit
- Woman Turns into a Car
- Captain D. Rom in: TIME TIME TURMOIL
- Father Christmas Visits the Family
- Captain D. Rom in: To Be a Bug on the Wall...
We'll have a full canon update on where these films fit into the timeline tomorrow.
Dispelling Rumors: Will We Make Films Based on LEGO Themes Such as DOTS, Clikits, and Bricks & More?
Finally, we wanted to address rumors that have seemingly surfaced recently that we would adapt LEGO Themes such as Clikits, DOTS, and more into films. We cannot say anything concrete at the moment, but take the rumors with a grain of salt. Some of these themes are not being explored, but we have used some of these themes as a thought experiment. What would a film based on LEGO Freestyle look like? There's no framework to a theme that is just about creative play, but that's the beauty of a Freestyle-based film: It's so open-ended, you could literally take it in any direction that you choose. Even other creative themes such as Clikits and DOTS are more about embellishing existing templates than starting from scratch, but even those leave several avenues open. After all, who else would want to see a story surrounding a pencil holder shaped like a pineapple that you can decorate however you like? Anyone? Just one? No one? Well, it's a good thing that this was just...
April Fools!
Ha! We got you! We may have a grain of truth to today's news, but it's time to pull back the curtain and see where the truth lies!
- Camel: The Movie was NOT released today, but rather a music video for the original song "Bowling for a Camel." The actual film will be released on December 20.
- The band East to West doesn't actually exist, but was rather created for the music video, which was inspired by the LEGO Vidiyo play theme. We will, however, expand the band out into a full in-house band for use in the future, such as at The Fourth Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Fan Choice Awards. Also, yes, that album is happening.
- Not ALL of the films created by Rioforce Studios are being canonized for the cinematic universe (just how would Woman Turns into a Car work in-universe, anyway?), but the Captain D. Rom films ARE being canonized. (un)denial technically ropes those films in by way of the title character's presence (The LEGO Island video game also helps), and our evaluation has determined that they do not contradict the canon. The official timeline will be updated this weekend.
- We never had any intention of adapting themes such as Clikits, Bricks & More, DOTS, and other themes that focus on creative play and embellishment over characters and narrative. Then again, what would a film based on DOTS look like? Hmm...
