Fleshing Out the Canon: Updating Dimension 201's Timeline, Clarifying Adaptational Changes, and Fixing Errors

Today's not much of a news day, but we are changing a few things with our canon, with a special thanks to PeabodySam, who has been working on fixing timeline errors and age problems. Here's a look at what's new!

Dimension 201's Timeline: Now More Fleshed Out!

While most of our content exists in a single continuity, our cinematic universe also contains a multiverse, allowing contradictory stories like Com 50: Peril in Iran and The Drama Zone: Nightmare at Shady Acres to exist in alternate realities. One of these realities, in case you weren't aware, is titled Dimension 201, which contains many of the early stories found in Crazy Compendium. Not all of them exist in this reality (the poems, for example, are non-canon), but we did this as a fun way to pay tribute to the original stories of Andrew and Daniel Bermudez. However, Daniel's stories were not included in the canon due to their omission from the said book, at least until now.

Below is the new canonical timeline for Dimension 201, which includes a selection of Daniel's stories, a reordering of Andrew's stories, and inserting anything else that is needed to help with context.

Castle Under Attack (1400)
Young Seminole (1602)
Quit Monkeying Around! (1925)
The Big Easter Egg Hunt (1994)
Danger at Gator Gorge (1999)
Inside/Outside (2000)
Trip to Dino Island (2000)
Pirate Peril (2001)
At the Balloon Race (2001)
The Ice Cream Incident (2001)
The Treasure at Pirate Island (2001)
Brickzo's Crime (2002)
Brickzo Blows It! (2002)
Mummy's Curse (2002)
Slyboots, Run! (2002)
Riddles Everywhere (2002)
The Bad Bar (2002)
Cows Get Revenge (2002)
Unexpected Lessons (2003)
The Carter Caper (2003)
Fork in the Road (2003)
Breakout of Baddy-Do-Bad (2003)
Artifact Theft (2003)
Alpha Team: The Deep Freeze (2004-2005)
The Lighthouse Mystery (2005)
Revenge of the Kid's Ghost (2005)
The Case of the Golden Dragon Theft (2005)
The Great Chase (2005)
Time Chase (2005)
Alpha Team 2: The Dino Attack (2005)
PS3 (2006)
ATTACKED!!! (2007)
Convenience Store Heist Goes Up in Smoke (2007)

Bear in mind that due to personal requests, Daniel Bermudez's stories will not be released in any form online. If the story team needs any information related to these works, they will need to get in touch with Mustache Maniacs Film Co. management.

What Changed from Adaptations?

There are also some questions about what was changed and what was kept the same from certain adaptations. The one that was specifically brought up by PeabodySam was Dr. Cyber's familial ties from the LEGO Time Cruisers theme. Below is everything that was changed from the adaptations that we can confirm is canonical.

  • In the official canon, Dr. Cyber and Dr. Charles Kilroy are not related in any way, even though they are brothers in the original LEGO Time Cruisers story.
  • In the official canon, the events of LEGO Power Miners do not happen, even though said events are said to lead to the inclusion of Dr. Brains in the LEGO Atlantis story (which is canonical). In fact, the LEGO Atlantis story is under review to see whether or not Dr. Brains could be dropped from the canon altogether.
  • In the official canon, the only Adventurers story by Stephan Bishop that is said to have happened is Johnny Thunder and the King of the Gypsies, unlike in its original context, which is included in the same world as his other stories (which themselves contradict our canon all over the place).
  • In the official canon, the events of the videogame LEGO Alpha Team did not happen; only the events of the LEGO sets and their companion stories are said to have occurred. Then again, no one knows for sure whether or not the videogame is canonical to the sets.
  • In the official canon, the world of Ninjago is placed on Earth, whereas the original story sets the events in a "fantasy bubble" of sorts. No one knows for sure whether or not Ninjago is set on Earth or elsewhere. One obscure LEGO Magazine reference places the series on another planet, but that is likely non-canon to itself.
  • In the official canon, LEGO City has the irrevocable layout that it has in the videogame LEGO City Undercover, even though the original LEGO City product line famously has no "real" canon layout. Even the TV show LEGO City Adventures (which is attempting to give the theme some specific characters that have since been absorbed into our canon) has no canon layout for the city.
  • On that related note, in the official canon, the events of the TV show LEGO City Adventures generally never happened, even though this show is acting as the original theme's new canon. With that said, said events and the show's characters are up for grabs to be adapted for our canon.

Bear in mind that an adaptational change being excluded from here does NOT mean that the original version of a character trait or story detail is canonical. Rather, these are the changes that we can currently confirm are canonically different from their source material.

Fixed Errors and General Clean-Up

On one last note, PeabodySam has stated that we've had some errors in regards to character ages. Generally speaking, some characters are too young to have been involved in specific events. With his help, the following errors are being fixed.

  • Howard Simmons was too young to have started Lens Pioneers in 1994 (he would have been 12). Therefore, his birth year is now 1962.
  • Astrid Dunham was too young to have graduated from college in 1993 (she would have been 12). Therefore, her birth year is now 1970.

If any more errors are caught in the coming months, we will let you know.

Lead Out

If nothing else, this was quite the unusual canon update! We're still working on our big spring release, Camel: The Movie, so keep an eye out next month for updates on that film's progress!
