THAC 2022 Results, A Possible Change for "Camel: The Movie," and Meet Our Newest Affiliate!
By: Andrew Bermudez
(Mustache Maniacs Film Co.: Headquarters; January 23, 2022)
The end of January is almost upon us, but we have some very big news to share today! Let's dive in and see what's going on!
THAC 2022 Results Announced!
In a surprisingly short amount of time, the results for THAC 2022 were released yesterday. Below are the results, with only the top 10 entries publicly ranked. Click on each title to watch that respective entry.
- Mountain Manlet (Chuwawa)
- The Visitor (Daragh Twomey and Steve Collins)
- Have a Nice Day (Chaizin)
- Intruder (AngryCatBrickfilms)
- A Nice Little Change of View (NonStop)

- Qirsh for Your Qasida (Blandeer)

It's interesting to see that Officer Spot did not get into the top twenty entries, but even more surprising is that the results contained the top twenty entries! In the past, it has been customary to rank just the top ten publicly, though that jumped up to fifteen during the pandemic with prior notice. What makes this unusual is that the top twenty entries were listed without any prior notice! Regardless, we would like to congratulate the winners on their success, as well as everyone for their effort and Bricks in Motion for hosting this contest.
Camel: The Movie Begins Filming in February, but will the Film be Delayed?
With a few short months to go until its scheduled release, Camel: The Movie is set to begin filming next month, if not at the end of this month. The film is quick and is set to feature several brief scenes across a multitude of sets, leading to a speedy production, but there might be a problem.
While management has already reviewed and fully approved the script, they are also requesting that the film be delayed to December for reasons that are currently confidential. There is internal pushback over this, though many of these details are also confidential, so we will report back next month when a final decision is made.
Introducing PeabodySam, our Newest Affiliate!
In much brighter news, we would like to introduce you all to our latest affiliate, PeabodySam! He's best known on BZPower as the head writer and editor-in-chief of the award-winning Dino Attack RPG, as well as the writer for several spin-off stories, such as Antithesis and Dear Sister. While he still is going to be contributing to the RPG's expanded universe, he's also now officially a part of the Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Affiliate Team! His roles with us include story team writer and lead curator of the Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Wiki. While having just started his role, we look forward to having him be a part of our growing network!
In fact, he's already caught a goof in the official canon: Howard Simmons is too young in the official canon to match the official timeline. Therefore, we are updating the canon to not only fix this issue, but also to explain why he looks young in Venomosa: The Bounty of Billy the Kid. There are also some other canon goofs that we are fixing today, which are all listed below.
- Howard Simmons' birth year is now in 1962. His birth date and month are still the same. He tries to look impressionable and relatable to his growing customer base of young photographers (since Lens Pioneers sells cameras to cover up its true purpose of studying and cataloging the multiverse), so he frequently dyes his graying hair and slicks it back to look young, as well as uses cosmetics and make-up to make a good first impression.
- Don Bricassius' death was listed as June 10, 2008, but this contradicts the story Cold Dishes, which details that character's death. Therefore, his date of death is now January 10, 2008.
- Astrid Dunham's birth year is being pushed back to 1970 in order to rectify a continuity snarl involving her educational timeline. It may be pushed back further if we decide that it is necessary.
He's currently scouring the story bible for any additional errors. We'll be updating the canon on this press room as each error is fixed.
Studio Construction Update: Construction Resumes in April!
It's been years in the making, with no end seemingly in sight, but construction on our new studio will finally resume in April, after several other priorities have been handled. We may have to slim down on some of the initial plans, but we are still committed to a hybrid mission revival/art deco aesthetic, as well as all of the initial facilities that were planned. With that said, the concept art above no longer represents the final look of the new studio. We're still working on updating the key visuals, but that should be done in the coming months.
Lead Out
When we first entered this weekend, this was NOT the kind of news we were expecting, but it will strengthen our works going forward, especially since we're now going to pay closer attention to the ages of our characters. We'll see you next month with a 1-year retrospective of 2/1/21, along with a final update on the fate of Camel: The Movie's release date.
