Studio Update: BRAWL 2020 Results, Re-Shuffled Production Time-frames, and More!

By: Andrew Bermudez
(Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Headquarters; July 11, 2020)
In addition to the final results announcement for BRAWL 2020, we also have plenty of news to share! Let's get started!

BRAWL 2020 Results! Where Does Johnny Thunder and the Trail of Botnik Fall?
Earlier today, the results for BRAWL 2020 were announced, with the top 15 entries being officially unveiled! Here are the public results. Click on each entry name to watch.
  1. Scrap (2x4 Productions)
  2. Night Guard (twickabrick)
  3. Degradation (Bricks and Pieces Animation)
  4. The Lost Idol (Joebor1777)
  5. Loop TV (LOTW Studios)
  6. Preservation (Smithy of Films)
  7. Joey McJohnathan Has an Epiphany (Spudson)
  8. PLASTiC (Joshua Nelson)
  9. The Perfect Pancake (Gentle Knight Animations)
  10. The Last Old Adventure (Crested Screamer Studios)
  11. Age of Amber (JO Co)
  12. Lossless (Atomica TV)
  13. Ad Infinitum (Adventures Ensue)
  14. Conveyance (Chaizin)
  15. The Witch and Her Broom (Willow Tree Animation)
As you can see, Johnny Thunder and the Trail of Botnik did not win, or get into the top fifteen, but we are grateful for the winners and for all of the entries. Congratulations to 2x4 Productions, twickabrick, and Bricks and Pieces Animation, and we look forward to future competitions and the creative stories that the participants bring to life with them.
In addition to this, it is worth mentioning that while THAC and BRAWL results usually only run a top ten list, this time, the judges decided to run a top fifteen list for a few reasons. Firstly, this BRAWL broke the record for most entries in a single BRAWL, at 66. Secondly, the judges felt that there were enough quality entries to account for a top fifteen, making this exception to the rule. In other words, DO NOT expect future THACs and BRAWLs to use this change in format.

Alms Pouch: Finished At Last! Pushed Back to Fall 2020!
Unfortunately, due to our on-going projects, Alms Pouch: Finished At Last! has been pushed back to Fall 2020. We aren't done with the preparations that need to be made for the new animation, and we plan on re-starting after another current, yet short, project finishes. We'll fill you in on that in the next section.

Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile: Special Edition Officially Still on Track for Re-Release on July 16, 2020!
While a remake may be delayed, a special edition is ready to go! Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile is entirely overhauled for a brand-new audience and will be re-released on a very special day: July 16, the tenth anniversary (to the day) of this film's original release! This new cut takes this Egyptian adventure and adds brand new visuals, new sound effects, overhauled map sequences, fixed canon, a new musical score, and more! While we had to scale back this special edition because of Covid-19, we are doing our best to make sure that this film looks and sounds great!

Wiki Mondays: Quarantine Edition Will Conclude on July 27, 2020!
With many facilities re-opening around the world with safety procedures in place, we realize that people are now spending less time at home again. Because of that, we have decided to discontinue our weekly new wiki page series Wiki Mondays: Quarantine Edition, with the last page debuting on July 27, 2020, the last Monday of the month. We have big plans for this final page, with it expected to be the largest single page added to the wiki during this time! You'll need to wait until then, however, to find out which one it is. In addition to this, our rapped-up production in response to our commitment to fresh and new entertainment for at-home audiences will conclude at the end of this month, reverting us back to our output rate before the lock-down.

After Delays, Patrick: The Movie Continues Production!
Because of the need to complete Johnny Thunder and the Trail of Botnik, Patrick: The Movie went on a brief production hiatus. Well, now that all is said and done, this film has now resumed production! Not just that, but the jail cell set for this film, thanks to Johnny Thunder and the Trail of Botnik, is now ready to go! We're confident in the success of this film, with Patrick Hooligans being our most popular character, and everyone will soon discover his hilarious origin story! This film is expected to be released later this year.

Other News: Studio Campus Construction, Project U, and Comics.
In other news, we are working hard on getting our other current projects done. While we may not finish the new studio campus by the end of the year, work is ramping up on its construction! What's more, construction recently started on an adjacent coffee shop that calls back to Los Angeles' iconic Red Car Trolley! While the studio will initially be off-limits to tourists (tours will begin sometime next year), this coffee shop will offer tourists anything they're interested in in relation to Mustache Maniacs Film Co., the Golden Age of Hollywood, and more! We also plan to have updated concept art ready to go later this year!
In the meantime, don't consider this an announcement, but we are seriously looking into entering Bricks In Motion's newest contest, Fright and Fear. We have some ideas of what to do, but don't consider this as anything official until we issue a press release. Because of this, we currently cannot talk about what we have planned.
However, we are seriously looking at having DINO ATTACK: Saga of a Conflict done by the end of the year. The last three pages are currently entering clean-up, with all revisions finalized, including one that came as a result of the release of DINO ATTACK RPG: Director's Cut. Due to our line-up of content, we're looking at a Fall 2020 release for these comics.
Because of these projects, though, the rest of Project U is currently on hiatus, though this pause is not expected to last long. It's not about Covid-19, but rather about Patrick: The Movie. Once that movie wraps production, filming will be allowed to resume for A Future in the Past, which is expected to happen by the end of the year.

Lead Out
In spite of everyone going out and about again, we still have plenty of content coming your way! Check back here often, as we will soon have some surprising announcements to make! Stay safe out there, and we'll see you all again soon!

Comments

  1. I admit, I'm curious about the Saga Of A Conflict revision that resulted from the Director's Cut, though I'll just have to wait and see! As always, please take your time; I'm very much looking forward to the finished product!
