New Poll! Now Through August 31!

Happy Independence Day to our American fans! Today, we want to turn your attention to a new poll that we are running on this press room. You'll find it in the left bar of this press room, and it concerns the possibility of special editions of films already online. If you're wondering what this poll means, we're testing the waters to see if fans want to see updated and re-edited versions of the following films:
  • Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo
  • The Adventures of Legoman
  • A Very Patrick Christmas
  • Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile
  • Wonders of Buoyancy
  • When Barrels Fly
Cast your vote today! We'll reveal the results in September. If you want further information, read below.

Q: What do you mean by "updated and re-edited" for these films?
A: If people are interested, this means that the existing films will be given the "From the Vaults" treatment. In other words, the existing film will be extensively modified with the latest technology as we see appropriate. This does NOT mean that the film will be remade.

Q: Would this eventually cover all of our films initially released online?
A: No. Only the six films listed here will be affected.

Q: Will the original films still be available to view if these special editions are released?
A: We haven't really decided on that yet. We're leaning towards keeping the originals online, but there is also this possibility of the special editions overshadowing the originals. In addition, for "From the Vaults," the re-edits have completely replaced the originals, which we no longer have archived. Leave your thoughts on this in the comments below.

Q: Some of the characters in these films were played by different actors in later films. Will the original voice acting in these films remain?
A: For the most part, no. Some of the lines may be salvaged, but the rest of the dialogue will be new recordings. Because of this, some of the recasting will affect these special editions (ex. Amy Guo will re-record Jim Freeman's original dialogue for the character of Jing Lee).

Q: What changes should I expect?
A: The depends on the scene. Some changes will just be reducing light flicker, others will be adding extensive effects and mouth animation. Others would be replacing the copyrighted music with an original score, adding filters, and rebuilding the credits sequences. There is also talk of adding back in deleted scenes and creating entirely new scenes altogether.

Q: If and when can I expect to see these special editions?
A: If people respond positively in the poll, they'll probably show up in 2018, after A Future in the Past is released. If people respond negatively in the poll, they will never be made.
