Patrick to Get His Own Comic Strip!

If you were to ask someone who has seen Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo who their favorite character was, the answer would most likely be Patrick, Lord Sinister's bungling sidekick. "I'll ask a fan of the first Johnny Thunder movie why they are looking forward to Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile, and they'll probably say, 'because Patrick is going to be in it.' Pretty soon, people will be thinking of Patrick as a henchman, not as the starfish that partly inspired the character," said Mark Matthew, head of the studio's board of directors.
Now, to help fans survive the long wait for Johnny Thunder 2, Lego Studios has hired a local cartoonist to animate Lord Sinister and Patrick into the cartoon world. This new comic strip, titled Patrick's Adventures, will feature the villains from the Johnny Thunder story in a whole new way. The comic strip will begin where Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo left off, and will temporarily end where we first see the villains in Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile. After all of the parts for the movie have been released, the comic will resume again where Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile left off. "We wanted to create a comic strip to fill in the blank between the two movies. However, to attract more readers, we decided to make Patrick the star of the comic, although Lord Sinister and the upcoming villain Horatio Schmidt will be featured as well," said Simon Johnathon, assistant director for the two Johnny Thunder movies and director of the now-forgotten The Adventures of Legoman.
The comics will be released bi-monthly (one comic every two months) on this blog, starting in September 2009. Then the comics will temporarily end in July 2010, when Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile debuts. The comics will restart in September 2010.
