In a shocking move that's even shocking to us, our THAC 2026 entry is going to be...an already announced film!?! Read on for all of the details.
William's Bell Overture: The Symphony of the Realities is Coming January 4!
Yes, it's a shock even to us, but the long-delayed film William Bell's Overture: The Symphony of the Realities is coming tomorrow as our THAC 2026 entry! Yes, the original film was going to be more ambitious than THAC would normally allow, but we're working out ways to make the film economically while still adhering to our new quality guidelines. The story is staying the same, but with everything tightened up to allow the film to be completed within 24 hours. Currently, pre-production is almost complete, with production beginning soon.
How Does This Film Differ from the Proposed Musical World Version?
For those who are not aware, this film concept is not new. In reality, this film was supposed to be released back in 2024 for the Bricks in Motion competition Musical World as a Twenty Years Young release, but story issues kept the film from getting off the ground. However, since the story showed a lot of promise, the film was simply delayed instead of being cancelled. What we didn't expect was for the film to finally be released tomorrow!
So, what IS different this time around? The answer: not much. This version embraces the original idea of embracing classical music as a narrative device, though this version of the film is going to be far shorter (this is a THAC entry, after all). It's similar enough that one of Musical World's rules regarding no dialogue is being upheld! The biggest difference, and this is what finally got the film off the ground, was the competition's theme: Revelation. This theme is the film's main structure and drives the plot forward. Also, since this is going to be a THAC entry, many of the locales (and most of the multiverse-hopping montages) have been cut. And unlike before, we're now framing this film as a direct sequel to Eye of the Baron's Storm, mainly to keep that plot thread moving. We'll dive further into the making of this film after it has been released.
End-Of-Day Update!
The film is moving along fairly well, though set construction delayed filming significantly. Right now, however, the film is undergoing last-minute rewrites. Because of this, this film will be delayed to January 9. We will keep you informed as this film's development progresses.
