Happy Earth Day! We don't have much planned for today's celebration, beyond linking New Friends ~ An Environmental Fable, but we do have some news for today!
Let's Watch New Friends Again!
It's Earth Day, so what better way to celebrate than by watching the aptly-named New Friends ~ An Environmental Fable again? This moving animation about the extinction of the dodo bird reminds us of not only the hand that humans have had in the demise of species like the dodo bird, but also instills a call to action to be better stewards of the Earth. The film in its entirety is embedded below for your viewing pleasure.
Spring Canon Change!
With the release of Pharaoh's Quest: The Curse of Amset-Ra under our belts, we've been reviewing the official canon for any plot holes and inconsistencies along the way. Almost none have been found, but a few holes have been found, which can easily be fixed with a simple canon change. Here is everything that is new.
- The Secret Journal of Artimus Rhodes is entering the official canon as the events of Dr. Artimus Rhodes' life from August 8, 1919 to September 14, 1919. The last two entries, which are dated March 14, 1925 and October 4, 1991, happen on those respective dates. You can read the journal's transcript here.
- The Adventure Journal of Prof. Archibald Hale is entering the official canon as the events leading up to the Barrel Bar scene in Pharaoh's Quest: The Curse of Amset-Ra from August 24, 1924 to August 28, 1924. This places the events of the film from August 29, 1924 to August 31, 1924. However, only pages 1 - 10 (or through the news article) is considered part of the canon. Everything else after that point stands in direct contradiction to what happens in the film (though, quite frankly, there isn't much to the journal after that point). You can read the journal's transcript here.
- It's surprising that this hasn't happened sooner, since Tales of the Adventurers verified this to be canonical story material years ago, but LEGO Atlantis: The Movie and its sequel game Quest for the Golden King are now entering the canon as events from January to March 2010.
We are still working on reviewing the official canon, so do not be surprised if more canon changes arrive in the near future!
While construction on our new studio continues, it has slowed down a bit in response to Covid-19, as the construction crew is practicing safe social distancing. This may delay the opening of the new studio campus, but we are currently on track to have it up and running this December. In the meantime, while we have been touting this piece of concept are above as the look for the new studio, we would like to inform you that the layout has been drastically changed since construction began. Updated concept art will be released later this year.
Patrick: The Movie Enters Production in May!
We have some great news to our Patrick Hooligans fans out there: Patrick: The Movie is set to begin production in May! The first set is ready to go, which also happens to be the set where most of the film's action takes place. This is certain to make production a breeze, though there is one set-back in the way. "Our animatronic Sobek-Ra for the film has barely started construction," said lead technician Hank Thomas. "One of our machinists tested positive for the virus, so now our machine shop is closed for a month. I asked director Barry Hollows (director of Zombie: Genesis) about using CGI for Sobek-Ra, and he told me 'I don't want to use CGI! I want this to be the best origin story movie ever made!' Hopefully, we can get back to work on the animatronic soon, even in these troubling times." The film has no release date, but is expected to be released early in 2021.
