First Look at "Patrick: The Movie!"

     With so many re-releases coming this year alone, it's easy to forget that we have plenty of new films in the works as well. Well, today's the day that we give one of those films its due respects. Presenting: Patrick: The Movie!

A Tale By Patrick, for Fans

     There is no doubt that Lord Sinister's silliest henchman, Patrick Hooligans, is our most popular original character. His silly antics juxtaposed against Lord Sinister are what give the villains of the Johnny Thunder films so much personality. And now, he's telling his tale of getting into adventuring. We have yet to start production on this film, so we do not have any screenshots (sorry). But we do have some other things to share.

From a Joke to a Movie

     If you've seen Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo recently, then you may remember the scene where Patrick Hooligans is seen for the first time and this resulting exchange between him and Lord Sinister:

Lord Sam Sinister: How did I ever end up with the Three Stooges?

Patrick: Remember? You found us in that Egyptian Tomb that we had locked ourselves in a few days before. You rescued us after we had finished eating our partner.

Well, that one joke is now the basis for this new film, as it tells all about that misadventure in Egypt, how Patrick met Nevada Smith, and how they came to be on Lord Sinister's team.

Costume Redesign Blitz!

     Since this film started pre-production after the remake of Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo was announced, many of the characters were approved for costume redesigns! While Patrick's planned redesign was retracted (many felt that it clashed visually), many characters, like Nevada Smith, were reworked from the ground up. His new design stays true to his original look, but with more modern pieces to make him stand out in the crowd. His face and bandanna, however, remain unchanged. Also tweaked was Lord Sam Sinister, who now has his original Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo look, but with his Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients top hat.

     Throughout the film, as we have done lately with our other films, there are references to events from past and future films. We won't say who's there or what happens to avoid spoiling the movie, but expect connections to the following films:

• Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo
• Johnny Thunder and the Wonders Beneath the Waves
• A Very Patrick Christmas
• Van Helbrick and the Monster Fighters
• Pharaoh's Quest: The Curse of Amset-Ra
• Mysteries of the Arctic

And that's just films! Wait until you hear about this last connection!

Connections to "Crazy Compendium!"

     Have you read our anthology book on our website yet? If not, you can download and read it here (CLICK HERE)! The reason why we are mentioning it here is because of a short story in the book titled Johnny Thunder and the Winter Vessel. It covers a story in Newfoundland, where Johnny Thunder and the adventurers race Lord Sinister and his men to retrieve the Frost Gem. We're not going to reveal the ending of the short story, but what we will say is that this story's ending sets up the narrative bookends for Patrick: The Movie, as those segments take place in the present day (Patrick's backstory takes place in 1998).

Re-Introducing an Obscure LEGO Character!

     Late in 2011, LEGO wrapped up the official Pharaoh's Quest story with the paper cut-out figure of Sobek-Ra that you see above. It could only be unlocked with a secret password and was tucked away from casual browsers of the website, so this character fell into obscurity.

     Now, however, he is coming back with a vengeance in Patrick: the Movie! However, his role and appearance will be nothing like what you see in this official image of the character. Pretty much everyone at Mustache Maniacs Film Co. thought that the official design was an abomination and clashed with the look of Pharaoh's Quest. Because of this, combined with the script not needing yet another guardian, he was not included in Pharaoh's Quest: the Curse of Amset-Ra. However, to fulfill a request during a re-write of Patrick: the Movie, this character was overhauled and reintroduced in his own action scene! His new design is still confidential, but we can assure you of this: he will look NOTHING like his original paper box form.

When Will it be Released?

     We haven't said much about this, but we're sure that you're all wondering when this film will be released. Short answer: We don't know. Long answer: Because of the plot points and potential spoilers for other films that it contains, this film will be released after Pharaoh's Quest: The Curse of Amset-Ra but before A Future in the Past. However, we don't have an exact time frame for the release yet, but keep checking back for more news and when the release date is finally revealed!
