The Year In Review: 2018

In all honesty, this year has been a very turbulent year. We fell behind schedule (again), our projects were delayed (again), and we were sidetracked by other projects (again). With that said, we did get plenty of content released, so let's take a look at what happened this year!

January: The year started with the re-release of When Barrels Fly, which re-imagined many elements from the film and brought it up to the modern day. This release officially kicked off Digital Decade, which celebrates ten years of our online network.

February: February saw the start of the currently on-hiatus series Our Dead Movies, which covers projects that we never completed and were cancelled. Currently, the next episode will be released January 2019. However, the unpopular Art Demonstration Show was also cancelled at this time.

March: Not much happened but work, work, work!

April: In April, it was announced that Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo would be remade for modern audiences! This was also when the Etsy store 2-Gen Art opened for business and the official website began its overhaul.

May: This was when we officially announced the migration of the official website over to Wix due to countless issues with Webs. To celebrate, we revived Poster Madness and also migrated Andrew Bermudez Art over to Wix. This meant that both sites had to be rebuilt from scratch, which meant that the new website didn't go online until...

June: The new Mustache Maniacs Film Co. website is live! Featuring a new modern look with easy-to-use navigation, the new website takes the best parts of the old website and enhances them, while throwing out any filler or irrelevant content. All of our content now lives on the site, so you now have a one-stop shop for all things Mustache Maniacs Film Co.!

July: This time was mostly for work, but we did announce two new films at this time: The Pen and Patrick: The Movie. Originally scheduled for last fall, both will now debut in 2019.

August: Not much happened but work, work, work!

September: At this time, it was confirmed that, after reviewing our films, even more are going to be re-released in 2019, with much-needed tweaking. This included popular films such as A Friend of the Police and Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients.

October: At this time, the long-delayed comic Journey to Siberia was finally concluded with one last comic. This last comic not only finished up this short story, it also helped to connect Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo to the events of another film, which re-released soon after. Also, Gone Ice Fishin' and Late for the Soccer Match were re-released at this time.

November: Just in time for the Christmas season, A Very Patrick Christmas was re-released at the end of November. Even more so than When Barrels Fly, this film had entire sequences re-shot to better fit the cinematic universe, along with new music and effects to make this season merry and bright!

December: Not much happened but work, work, work! However, we did remove the original versions of the films already re-released from our YouTube Channel at this time. From now on, on December 1 of each year, any films that have been re-released since the beginning of the year will have their original versions taken offline.

2019: 2018 was a hard year for us, but rest assured, 2019 will turn that around! FOUR new films are coming next year, along with several re-releases, including an enhanced version of Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients! Here's a bit of a rough breakdown of when you can expect to see some of our films:
  • {THAC XVI Entry} - January 2019
  • The Pen - Spring 2019
  • Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients: Special Edition - Spring 2019
  • Pharaoh's Quest: The Curse of Amset-Ra - Late Spring 2019
  • The Adventures of Legoman: Special Edition - Summer 2019
  • Patrick: The Movie - Early Fall 2019
  • Wonders of Buoyancy: Special Edition - Fall 2019
  • And more to come!
Thank you for being a fan in 2018 and for sticking with us through our hardships, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2019!
